Application Of Area Concept

Knowing the concept of area helps solve many applications.

There are occasion where we need to cover a large area using numerous small pieces of similarly sized item.

Example: Numerous small pieces of mat used to cover the floor of a room. "How many of this small pieces of mat is required?" This is a common question raised.

Question on area application:
A piece of mat, as shown in diagram A, has to cover a square area. How many of this piece is needed to cover the smallest possible square area?
