In trigonometric maths, we do come across "Odd" and "Even" functions.
What are these terms?
The diagrams below will explain.
Diag 1 Sine Function
Diag 2 Cosine Function
From the first diagram of Sine function, you can see that the shape of the graph at both sides of the zero degree axis (Vertical axis) is OPPOSITE or reverse in amplitude.
For the second diagram of Cosine function, you can see that shape is the SAME or mirror image (without reversal of amplitude) at both sides of the zero degree axis (vertical axis).
Therefore, we call the Sine function as"Odd" function and Cosine the "Even" function.
The reference is the vertical axis about the 00 line.
